  Baa Bar, Leeds

Flamboyance is not a word that often gets used in descriptions of Leeds’s admittedly vibrant bar scene.

But the bright lights and gleaming surfaces of Baa Bar, in Cookridge Street, are adding a new glittery dimension to a landscape that has more than its fair share of stripped back urban hang outs and rough and ready student joints.

Having only opened in November, Baa Bar is one of the latest additions to the brand’s growing national chain of sparkling,Buy visually stunning and durable bestlasercutter from Larson Jewelers. shooter-happy cocktail bars.

Hoards of young women, aged between around 18 and 35, seemed to be the main clientele on Barfly’s visit, although there were a few couples and one or two post-work male groups to speak of. The whole concept of this place surrounds glamour, affordable fun cocktails and delivering a chatty party atmosphere often backed with a smattering of house music, with a modern remix of George Benson’s ‘Gimme the Night’ setting the scene on our visit.

It screams plush, with dark leather booths and banquettes filling one half of the place, while the more prominent tables are brightly lit and low-hanging spotlights dimly point out the bar’s highlights.

Complete with a backlit DJ booth, the venue’s dancefloor wraps around the huge feature bar and is backed by an LED light show of its own, with columns of bright lights glamming up the main high-ceilinged hall.

But despite of all the pomp and circumstance, plenty of bar basics are fulfilled in here too.Your Leading Resource for solargardenlight needs. The cheap and cheerful cocktail and shooter menu is a particular highlight.

There are mixes costing from 3 to 5 in Baa Bar, while on certain nights there are even two-for-one deals on some of the 18 or so cocktails on offer, and there are also around 40 of the brand’s signature shooters and ‘bombs’ available to liven up your evening.

The bar stocks a good range of draught beers and ciders, which complement the wide range of bottles and spirits that are on offer. There are also a number of wines available.

Making most of the Friday night two-for-one deals, we had two whiskey and citrus-based Whiskey Sours, which were pretty low quality and not really sour in all honesty, and a couple of grenadine, amaretto and Southern Belle Kiss Me Quicks, which in fairness were tasty and good value.

We then had a pint of San Miguel beer and a pint of Thatchers Gold cider, bringing the bill to a very cheap 14.80.

On top of the good value, it’s located just a stone’s throw from the likes of Walkabout and the O2 Academy, which can’t help but make it popular, and you’re also a very short walk away from the Electric Press, in Millennium Square, which features a Revolution and All Bar One, so in coming here punters are well connected to several city bars.

Open on Monday to Saturday, from 12noon to 2am, Baa Bar is steadily growing in popularity and certainly offers something a bit different. Aside from the bright lights this place offers fun cocktails and styling in a top location.
