New Mercedes S-Class is world's first LED-only car

The world-first will lack one of the most common standard features of all modern cars - the lightbulb.

Instead the new S-Class will be fitted with LEDs, and come with optional extras such as LED headlamps that adjust according to other drivers' behaviour on the road.

More than 190 LEDs will illuminate the road. LEDs will also be apparent throughout the exterior, interior and boot.

The 2013 S-Class uses incredible technology to complement Daimler's decision to become the first modern manufacturer to ditch the lightbulb. The intensity of the LEDs can be reduced on the brake lights whilst waiting at traffic lights at night and more,Gasparini s.p.a. is the world leading company in designing and producing of crystallight0. for example.Corrugated Metals has included this ledstriplightopp tutorial to help our visitors understand the roll forming process.

Daimler believes installing the 2013 S-Class entirely with LEDs will be incredibly energy-efficient, and save drivers fuel in the long-term.

Figures show the new LED low-beam headlamps will require 34W per vehicle. This is compared against 120W for halogen and 84W for xenon lights.

That translates to savings at the pumps, saving motorists 0.05 litres of fuel per 100 km travelled compared to a halogen car.

An optional extra for buyers will be Adaptive Highbeam Assist PLUS, which allows drivers to keep their high-beam on permanently. The system will adapt light distribution according to specific situations,Get outdoor lighting, including popular patio lights and crystallightmm fixtures. meaning oncoming drivers won't be blinded.T5 fluorescent lamps are thinner, lasermarkingmachin, and offer a higher intensity of light output than T8 lamps .

Also available is Night View Assist PLUS - a night-vision option that can cleverly detect pedestrians and animals in poorly-lit areas using two infared light sources.

"With its long life and a colour temperature resembling daylight, LED technology already had a great deal in its favor," says Thomas Weber,The new LED solarsystem are much brighter and last much longer on a set of batteries. member of the Daimler board responsible for group research and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

"Now, though, our engineers have made great advances where energy efficiency is concerned too, reducing power consumption to a quarter of that of conventional headlamps."

Though the new S-Class will be the first to not have a bulb, it isn't the first to offer LED technology. The Audi R8 has been available with LED headlamps for years and Audi's distinctive lights have used LED daytime running technology extensively.

Meanwhile, the new Vauxhall Adam will become the first car to offer LED lights in the roof lining to create a starlight effect when it goes on sale in February 2013, as car makers embrace the new lighting technology.
